Thinking of unique interview questions to ask employer is a good way of distinguishing yourself from other candidates. Interview questions that focus on the future of the organisation, its people or industry can provide you with valuable information.

- If all your employees suddenly couldn’t work (at the same time), what would <organisation> do?

Below is a list of questions to ask at the end of an interview to close off the conversation and ensure everyone is on the same page about the way forward.
- Is there any other information I can provide you to assist with your hiring decision?
- How long would it take a new starter to be a fully effective <vacant role>?
- When can I expect to hear back from you regarding the outcome of the interview?
- What are the next steps in the recruitment process?

The best interview questions to avoid
Some questions are best left to the next phase of the recruitment process or avoided altogether.
Asking the employer about details available in the job description might leave the employer wondering if you’ve read the advertisement properly. Clarifying the details is acceptable, but try not to revisit information already given. Interviews are short and there’s a lot to cover!
Similarly, asking about basic details regarding the organisation is not preferred. Ideally, you should already have this information from the job description and research you’ve done on the organisation’s social media and website. Again, clarifying and diving deeper is completely acceptable and encouraged!
